Viola DiLallo Obituary

SCHENECTADY Viola C. DiLallo, 86, of Schenectady, at rest May 19, 2004 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady. Born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary DeMarco Cassella, she was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, the Ellis School of Nursing and had also received a B.S. and master's degree in nursing education. Viola's employment included work as a registered nurse in Paris, France and with General Electric in Schenectady. She taught nursing education with the Capital Region Boces, Practical Nurse Program and at the former Linton High School. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Schenectady. She was a member of the board of directors of the Schenectady Municipal Golf Course and was active with the Annie Schaeffer Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed bowling, golf and travel with her late husband Chester. Wife of the late Philip E. Caruso (1963) and Chester A. DiLallo (1999). Stepmother of Dr. Chester A. DiLallo of Burtonsville, Md., Gary A. DiLallo of Clifton Park; step-grandmother of Kevin S. DiLallo, Esq. of Alexandria, Va., Jeffrey T. DiLallo of San Francisco, Calif., Cristen and Courtney DiLallo, both of Colesville, Md., Kenneth DiLallo of Clifton Park, Andrew DiLallo of Sydney, Australia and Cristy DiLallo of Clifton Park; step-great-grandmother of Brian A. DiLallo of Colesville, Md.; sister of Theodora Hanley of Haworth, N.J. and the late Arthur Cassella, Leonora Gianelli, Esther Faulisi, Evelyn Nacco. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Viola's family would like to especially thank the caregivers and staff at Gentle Home Health Care for their compassion, love and understanding. A funeral service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A calling hour will precede the service from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Contributions in Viola's memory may be made to St. Peter's Hospital, c/o the ALS Regional Center, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
