Virginia Botticelli Obituary

Botticelli, Virginia REXFORD Virginia (Marro) Botticelli, 93, of Coburg Village and formerly of Waterford, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 after a long and loved-filled life. Virginia was a longtime resident of Waterford where she was a comm-unicant at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. She was also a member of the Italian Club in Green Island and the Waterford Senior Citizens Center. Virginia was an avid cook and could think of nothing better than to prepare a meal for friends and family. Many will remember that she was always willing to play a spirited and competitive game of cards or bocce and hated losing even to those she loved the most. Her friends and family were her most prized possessions. She was the wife of the late John Botticelli Sr., who died in 1989. She is survived by her three sons, John Jr. of Selkirk, Patrick of Oak Park, Ill., and Michael of Washington, D.C. She also leaves two extraordinary daughters-in-law, Kathy and Mary Jane and her dear son-in-law, David Wells. She is the sister of Albert Marro of Troy and the late Mary (Marro) Perrotto, Michael Marro, Anthony Marro, Ernest Marro, Pasquale Marro and Joseph Marro. Virginia was also blessed by four grandsons and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves a surviving brother-in-law, Michael Cocca and three sisters-in-law, Marian Cocca, Carol Marro and Ingrid Marro, and many nieces and nephews who brought great happiness to her life. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. Those who wish may make contributions to St. Mary of the Assumption Church Restoration Fund in care of the funeral home office. I was Virginia's Occupational Therapist at Eddy Heritage House and I want you to know what a true pleasure it was to work with your Mom. From the day that she arrived at our place until the day she left, I was awed by her motivation and zest for life. She was truly a lovely lady and I will remember her fondly. I'm glad she got back to Coburg Village as I know that's where she really wanted to be.

John, Pat and Michael
We all will miss your Mom so much. She was such a special lady. I always thought of her as my aunt, not a neighbor. She was such a wonderful friend to my Mom and Dad and was there to help when she could with my Mom. We will always cherish that and her. She is at peace now.
Love to all of you.
