W. Eric Simmons

Simmons, W. Eric MECHANICVILLE W. Eric Simmons, 30, long-time Stillwater resident, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017. Born in Troy, November 16, 1986, he is the husband of Tara Kearbey Simmons; father of Logan James Simmons; son of Catherine Bryant and husband, Floyd and Wayne Simmons and wife Terry, all of Stillwater. A 2005 graduate of Stillwater High School, Eric has worked in the automotive industry for 10 years. He most recently worked at the parts counter of the NAPA store in Cambridge, N.Y. and previously worked for the LIA Auto Group for several years. A long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America, Eric attained the rank of Eagle Scout, something only a small percentage of scouts are able to achieve. During his highly decorated time, he also was a chapter chief, a recipient of The Vigil Honor, given by the Order of Arrow, and was also given the Arrow of Light Award. He was also a member of the Stillwater Rod and Gun Club. In his spare time, Eric was a handy mechanic who loved being around cars, he enjoyed spending time with friends at the shooting range, and always cherished times spent with family. A proud, loving and caring dad, he adored his son, Logan and was never happier than the times he shared with him. Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of six years, Tara, who he's shared an amazing life with since they started dating 15 years ago. The apple of his eye, Logan; siblings, James (Christine) Simmons, Meggan (Christopher) Cotterell, Connor Bryant (Samantha Johnson), Kevin Simmons (Lindsey Feulner), Jennifer Bryant (Ryan Boner) and Stacey (Emmanuel) Perkins; parents-in-law, Gregory and Maryanne Kearbey Sr.; brother-in-law, Gregory Kearbey Jr. (Katie Hamel); grandparents, Jane Simmons Hawthorne, R. David(Anne) Crandall; as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, friends, and his faithful yellow lab, "Ralphie." Eric was predeceased by his grandparents, James C. Simmons, Jeannine "Heidi" Crandall and Joan K. Barone. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville.
