Walter E. Snyder Sr.

Snyder, Walter E. Sr. CASTLETON Walter E. Snyder Sr., 59, of Castleton, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Walter and Esther Powley Snyder. He was a graduate of Lansing burgh high School. Walter worked as a custodian at Hudson Valley Community College for 42 years, retiring in 2010 due to his illness. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed boating, camping and fishing. He also liked cutting and splitting trees into firewood which he would use for heating his home. Walter was the devoted father of Walter E. Snyder Jr. of Castleton and Jennifer Cuppett of Brunswick, who are survived by their mother, Sharon Bonesteel (David) O'Brien of Brunswick; beloved brother of William (Anne) Miller, John (Mildred) Snyder, Jay (Karen) Snyder and Crystal Snyder, all of Troy; cherished grandfather of Parker Cuppett; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Corner of 115th Street & 4th Avenue, Lansingburgh). Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Waterford Rural Cemetery. The family would like to thank Sandy D. and the entire Hospice family and Dr. Shaffer and staff for the loving care given to Walter and all of us.
