Wendy Meilinger Obituary

Meilinger, Wendy
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Wendy Whiteside Meilinger entered eternal rest on October 20, 2024. At the time of her death she was 84. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward, formerly of Voorheesville, N.Y.; two children, daughter, Lisa, Temecula, Calif., son, Christopher, Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Joseph Gennarelli, Kansas City, Kan., Nicholas Gennarelli, San Diego, Calif., Sarah Meilinger, Philadelphia, Pa., Chloe Meilinger, Portland Ore., Dr. Megan Reinhold, Carlsbad, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Barrett and Myla Reinhold. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Bonnie Radke of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She was predeceased by her one brother, Douglas.
Wendy was a graduate of The Buffalo Seminary, Buffalo, N.Y., and the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, New York where she received the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramic Design.
Following retirement from a teaching career, Wendy and her husband enjoyed traveling in their very comfortable motor coach, full-time for 28 years, throughout the United States including cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico.
Wendy had many hobbies, but one special talent included being an accomplished birder. She could identify birds by their song, color, flight, or how they perched. If asked, she would gladly take her friends or strangers on bird walks. Wendy will be remembered for her generous spirit, desire to help others through volunteering, and most importantly her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eventual internment will take place with her husband in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
