NIVERVILLE - William "Bill" Poetzsch, 67, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on January 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He passed in the same manner in which he lived his life... by never giving up.
Bill was born in Connecticut to William and Gladys on December 28, 1955. He met Tina Cordato in 1981. He was an admired, inspirational father to his two children. Bill worked proudly as a regional logistics manager at Holcim for many years.
He loved sports and enjoyed working outdoors. Bill was a passionate youth boys and girls soccer coach in the local community for a number of years. He was steadfast in teaching others what he learned himself. Bill uniquely knew how to go from where he was to where he wanted to be. He had an impact on many of the lives around him.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Tina Poetzsch; his daughter, Alex Poetzsch; and his son, William Poetzsch. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys Poetzsch; his sister, Sherry Miller; his brother, Micheal Poetzsch; along with many nieces and nephews and his furry companion, Zucc.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the healthcare workers, especially the medical I.C.U. team, who treated him at Albany Med. in his last few weeks.
Calling hours will be held to honor Bill at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral home in Valatie from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
