HALFMOON - William J. "Billy" Riley, age 56, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Albany, N.Y., he was the son of the late William B. Riley and nephew of the late Marilyn F. Riley.
William was a Respiratory Sales Specialist with AstraZeneca for the past five years and previously worked for 15 years at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company.
It was his roles as father and husband that Bill cherished most. He deeply loved his family and if you knew him, you knew it. He was big-hearted and vibrant; Bill had a real zest for life. One of his greatest attributes was his undeniably incredible sense of humor. He was oftentimes the funniest person in the room capturing people with his quick wit, ability to tell a funny story and recite the most appropriate line from a movie and at the perfect moment.
He took great pride in other extracurricular activities, most especially the many years he spent coaching Halfmoon baseball, motivating team members and other coaches in a way only he could, and as a member of the Halfmoon Baseball Board of Directors. Bill was especially honored to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for American Housing Foundation, Inc. which helps local communities build affordable, safe housing opportunities for people especially seniors.
William leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Kathleen (Cleland) Riley; three sons, Colin W. Riley, Aidan F. Riley and Quinn P. Riley; his mother, Elaine L. Riley; three brothers, Michael (Maribeth) Riley, Robert (Kelli) Riley and Kevin (Dana) Riley; his aunt, Nancy (Paul) Gallipeo; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be this Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Catricala Funeral Home, Inc., 1597 route 9, Clifton Park, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Crescent. Burial will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Memorial contributions may be made to one's own choice.

Just heard of Bills passing and I just feel crushed. He gave me so much joy when he would visit my office. I don´t think I ever stopped smiling the whole time he was there. There was no need to talk about this drug or another, that info was known and totally incidental to our conversation about life, families, our quirky human thoughts and actions and worries that Bill was able to relate so originally, and to me hilariously. He was such a great father keeping his kids in line with his common sense loving dicipline I could tell.
Bill would keep coming by my office even when we were no longer on his route just for the fun of it. I´m so sad he departed us so young. My sincere condolences to the family he dearly loved. Bill Feeney

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Billy´s death. He called on my office for many years in his role as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He represented his products with knowledge and enthusiasm. He always had a smile on his face and a story or two and was welcome in my office. My condolences to his family and friends.

Bill was a force to be reconned with. We met in college and became instant friends. If you were having a lousy day, his smile and banter made the reason more bearable. I was lucky enough to get to know Bill serving on the Halfmoon Baseball Board and this is truly heart breaking. Bill was as caring a guy as you would find, and his sense of humor was second to none!!! Bill was truly one of the good guys that this world so desperately needs. My condolences to his family.
