VAUGHAN Alec Peeples Vaughan, Jr., age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Born in Hampton, South Carolina on December 22, 1920, Alec was the son of the late Alec and Agnes Vaughan and husband of the late Geneva Long Vaughan. Alec is survived by his wife of 39 years, Emily Sweet Vaughan, his daughter, Kathryn Collins (Wayne), son, Alec Patrick (Cheryl) and daughter, Nannette Ramey, step-daughters Patricia Torres and Marien Cox (John), grandchildren, Dwayne Collins, John Collins, Andy Collins, Timothy Vaughan, Heather Vaughan Sylvia, Kathryn Ramey Dingman and Kristin Ramey and nine great-grandchildren. Alec was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and worked at Cecil Field in civil service until his retirement. He was a devoted family man and known for his generosity to all of those he loved. Alec loved to fix things and planted a garden each year. A member of the Hyde Park Baptist Church where he worshiped, he always was a champion for young people. He helped secure the charter for Hyde Park Masonic Lodge and was its first Master. Services will be held on April 14, 2015 at Hibernia Baptist Church-Hyde Park Campus, 2000 Lane Ave. S at 11am. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jax. Fl. 32210. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jax. FL 32210. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Hibernia Baptist Church - Hyde Park Campus youth fund. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

Alec Vaughan was and still is the GREATEST man I know a powerful man of God and husband to my Grandmother Emily he is my Grandad and father to my Dad the Greatest verse in scripture that sums up Alec Vaughan life is John 15:16 ye have not chosen me , but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain a..a..Grandad touched thousands of people he c amen in contact with and always made a lasting impression on there lives as a father to my dad and two outstanding aunts Kathy and Nan he was a dynamic Grandfather no other man will be able to wear his shoes he accepted me as his one and only thru Adoption and taught me to love God Work hard build things plant a garden taught me to fish hunt and work on things and fight with your tools to make it work and stand up for your beliefs as a man , a Christian and a American he fought for my freedoms in WW2 and gave his all so the Vaughan Legacy will live on to Generations to come He is me Heart my life Especially my HERO My Grandad was perfect in my eyes and I will carry the rich tradition Vaughan torch

My heart aches, yet rejoices with the family of Alec P. Vaughan. He was an uncle that I adored and looked up to all my life. I knew when I saw him there would be fun, teasing, and lots of laughter.
