ALLAN SPREEN Obituary

SPREEN Allan Raymon Spreen, 97, died peacefully August 4, 2013, in St. Augustine. He and his wife Nancy were residents of Ponte Vedra, FL from December 1984 to late 1994 when they relocated to Mesa, AZ to be near grandchildren. He returned to Florida in 2009. A native of Nutley, NJ, the son of Raymon and Gertrude Halsey Spreen, he was a 1938 graduate of Georgia Tech. Employed by the Glenn L, Martin Aircraft Co. (now Martin-Marietta) before and during WWII, to supervise inspection of airplanes including the famous B-26 bomber, he later served as president of Southern Industries in Richmond, VA (1951-63) and finally as president of Suburban Mfg. in Dayton, TN until his retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ann Douglas Nancy Noland Spreen (d. 10.3.2006), and his eldest daughter Nancy Noland Spreen (d. 3.10.1976). He is survived by three children: Allan N. Spreen of Jacksonville, FL; Catherine Spreen Arnold of Saint Augustine, FL; and Roger B. Spreen of Los Altos Hills, CA; as well as seven grandchildren.
