SMITH Andrew Benjamin Smith, 24, formerly of Leesburg and Jacksonville, passed away November 10th, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada after tragically succumbing to an opiate addiction. Andrew was born at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida on Jan 28th, 1990. He attended Stanton Preparatory High School for two years in Jacksonville and later moved to Leesburg. He graduated from Leesburg High School in 2008, and from Stetson University with a Bachelor or Arts degree in Political Science in 2011. In 2012, Andrew moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he was employed as an internal auditor for Brown and Brown Insurance. He had recently taken a position with Brown & Brown of Las Vegas as an Employee Benefits Consultant. He was a beloved member of the Brown and Brown team, and will be missed by his colleagues. Andrew is lovingly survived by his family: his mother and stepfather, Margie and Frank Borth of Denver, Colorado, his father, Leon Smith DDS of Marineland, Florida, his sister and brother-in-law, Anastasia and Alexei Gribko, of St. Petersburg, Russia and his sister, brother-in-law and niece, Alexandra, Johannes, and Edith Tax of Weis, Austria. There will be a memorial service for Andrew on Saturday February 7th, 2015 at 11 a.m. in Allen Hall, at Stetson University (located at Northeast corner of Woodland Blvd. and Minnesota Ave.) in Deland, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Andrew Smith Memorial Fund for Drug Abuse and Addiction Awareness. The fund serves to honor Andrew's memory by seeking to prevent the senseless destruction of young lives.
