Caleb Cooney Obituary

COONEY Caleb William Cooney, a high school Senior at Creekside High School, in St John's County Florida, died in a car accident on October 28th. Caleb was a loving son and brother who enjoyed creative writing, gaming, and outdoor activities such as biking and long boarding. Caleb took a very pragmatic look at life's challenges and would enjoy discussions questioning normal conventions to those challenges. He also loved walking around St. Augustine where he would frequently request free hugs and he also enjoyed the special look in her eyes that only Bella, his bulldog, could have. We would consistently find Caleb taking his little brothers through ODST training where they were imaginary commandos and he was their Master Chief. He was our first player, Mario. Caleb was born on May 30th to Clayton Cooney and Samara Porter and he is survived by his parents, his stepparents Charles Porter and Kaila Cooney, his brother Jacob Cooney, his half-brothers Will and Drew Porter, his stepbrother and stepsister Austen and Ashlyn Marshall. Caleb is also survived by his Grandparents Sam and Gayle Sampadian, Juanita Cooney, Susan and Buddy Youngblood, Charles and Elizabeth Porter, Greg and Ginger Crafton, Pam Crafton and his many loving cousins. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm TODAY on Tuesday, November 3rd in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. www.hgmandarin.com (904) 288-0025.

My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the entire Cooney family. I taught Caleb Chemistry for about a month until he was transferred to another class. He was missed when he left because of his sharp sense of humor, love of real learning and ability to connect to everyone. Caleb would always speak to me in the hallways and I appreciated his energy and involvement. God bless you all. Caleb was an amazing young man.

I pray for him and his family. May God be with the family and all who knew such a great person. They say that when God is in his garden, he picks the prettiest ones first, Caleb must have been one of them, but is memory will remain with all who were lucky enough to know him.

Caleb, you were an amazing different person. Always quiet but always busted a smile or laugh when I said something funny in class and would look at me asking himself did he really just say that. Never thought that you would be gone specially so fast and young. I know god has you in his hands now and will take care of you. Rest In Peace Buddy! You will be missed. I pray for the Cooney family and sorry for your lost! I'm here for y'all if y'all need anything. God Bless.

I will truly miss Caleb coming by my classroom, either to work on an art project during his lunch period or show me one of his new computer art creations.
I feel lucky to have been his teacher last year and honored that he stopped by almost everyday for a visit this year. He will be deeply, deeply missed.

Our family is truly sorry for the terrible loss you are experiencing. Our daughter, Barbara, went on her first "date" with Caleb and she has wonderful photos of their lunch, their "antics" at various stores at the mall and their wonderful afternoon together. She really thought he was a wonderful guy, a loving person and was so happy to have met him. Please know we are thinking of you during your time of sorrow and our prayers are with you. May you rest in peace, Caleb.
