Carol Proulx Obituary

PROULX Carol Proulx, 69, passed away September 14, 2007 after a brief and hard fought battle with illness. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she was raised in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Jacksonville in 1960. She was a successful business manager and partner of 14 years with Jean's Hair Systems of Jacksonville. As well, she was a dedicated Bank Officer at the Wachovia Bank until her retirement several years ago. She had a love for gardening, pets and spending time with her family, friends and long-time neighbors in the San Souci area of Southside in Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Pantall, a brother, Jim Pantall: of Punksatony, Penn. and a son, Michael Ray Slyer of Dayton Ohio. Survivors include her daughter, Debra Sanchez (Lou); sons, Tony Proulx (Linda) and Andy Proulx, all of Jacksonville; sister Ann Mittlestadt (David) of Dayton, OH: brother William Pantall (Debbie) of Casper, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, Nichole Slyer, Marcus Sanchez, Ben Sanchez, Jennifer Scoates, Ricky Proulx, Ashley Ryan Proulx, Sara Proulx, Zach Malcomb, two “new” great-grandchildren Jaden and Richard; and her beloved dog “Oscar”. Family received friends on Sunday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue. A funeral mass was held on Monday, September 17, 2007, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Michael J. Larkin officiating. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. Debra, Tony and Andy would like to thank all of Carol's friends, neighbors and former co-workers for their love and support through this difficult time. Carol was a friend and co-worker when I worked for Atlantic Bank in Jacksonville years ago. My husband and I were married at Joyce Beard's home on Nathan Drive, and Carol and Joyce sang at my wedding. I remember her as a beautiful and elegant lady, and I was sorry to hear of her death - but I know she left many lights shining . . .

Carol was a dear friend of mine for many years and I will miss her dearly. We are all so blessed to have had the pleasure of knowing her, Carol never met a stranger and opened her home and heart to those in need.
