So sorry to hear of the passing of David.
We became friends during our days at Norwood Elementary School,we were pals in the Boy Scouts. We joined the Air National Guard while still in high school; just a couple of days after we graduated from Andrew Jackson, we were sent to Lackland AFB, TX, for USAF/ANG basic training. We returned to Jacksonville and enrolled at Jacksonville
University. I last saw David at our 50th high school reunion in 2005. We talked on the phone about two years ago. David was always a soft spoken gentleman and a kind person. My sympathy and condolences to David's family. God Bless

I first met David just before Christmas in 1949. We were both in 6th grade at Norwood Elementary. I liked him from the beginning. We both enjoyed the Boy Scouts, and I have fond memories of those days! All my best to his family. We will miss him.

David, you were a fine example of what most of us wanted to be at Jackson HS. I am sorry that since high school, I have had no contact with you or your family. May you rest in peace with the Lord. Sonny Davis

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
