Deryle Calhoun Obituary

CALHOUN Deryle Isham Calhoun, Sr., age 82, beloved husband, father and “Pop-Pop”, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. He is survived by Becky, his adoring wife of 44 years; son Deryle Calhoun, Jr. (Debbie) and their children, Trey & Sally Jane; daughter Terri (John) and their children, Ashley Grace, Kyle & Anna; son Barry (Alisha) and their son, Ashton; his cocker spaniel, Chance; sister Vaunena “Titter” Jones; brothers- and-sisters-in law Jim & Pat Chafin and Stan & Janet Chafin; sister- and-brother-in-law Gaye & Ed Lunsford; and many other loving family members. Deryle was a WWII veteran, serving as Radioman First Class, U.S. Navy. He was an incredibly unselfish person who always went out of his way to help others and had so much determination. Because of that determination, he convinced the City of Jacksonville to provide a right- hand turn lane at Hendricks Ave. and Greenridge Rd. We will miss him so very much. Funeral services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, on Monday, October 1, at 2 pm. (Visitation 12-2 pm). Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery following service. If anyone desires to make a charitable contribution, Deryle supported the Children's Tumor Foundation, 95 Pine Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
