Just learned of your Dad's passing. He was always kind and certainly an icon in the parts business. I was also sorry to hear about your Mom's passing, as well! She too was a kind person. Both your Mom & Dad will always be remembered, fondly.

Only today did I hear of Ellis's passing. My belated but sincere condolences to the Hitzing family. I guess I knew Ellis since about 1962 (?, when I was 14) and, I always liked him.

I worked for Ellis as a sales rep. for his Tampa warehouse for twelve years. He had more go than people half of his age. He will be missed!

Bert and Wade,
We were sad to hear about your Dad's passing. Uncle Louis(Donaroma) and I(Jensine Husband Henderson)was talking about living on "The Hill" and going to the Grocery Store and Gas Station. I remember some great times with your Dad and how he would tease me and pretend he "got my nose". It's amazing how from something sad, good things can be recalled.

Linda and I were sorry to read of your dad's death. We have been out of town for two weeks and are sorry we were unable to attend the services. My dad told me when we were in school that he and your dad were also good friends when they were young. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. Call me some time and lets have lunch.

what a tragic loss, Mr. Ellis was such a wonderful man. Nigel and I worked for him for over 13 years and Nigel had known him for over 25 years. We admired him greatly. Our deepest sympathies to Bert, Wade, and families.

Mr. Ellis was an amazing man and I consider myself very fortunate to have known, admired, and worked for him for quite a number of years. Mr. Ellis and Mabel were the nicest couple anyone could every imagine and I will always cherish their memories.

I have heard Ellis and Mabel Hitzing spoken of all of my life. My grandmother Georgia Sellers spoke of working in Ellis' grocery story. My mother speaks with great honor and respect of the quality of this man and his wife who lived and worked in the neighborhood where she grew up. Praise God for the life this man lived and the people he touched.

Being in the automotive business ourselves, our families have known each other for more than 50 years. Ellis was always a special part of our family and will truely be missed.

Bert, I heard the sad news about your Father, yet in a way it wasn't. Your Father was the kind of man that made this country great. A hard working, honest man that left a great legacy for his family. The Hitzing family is in my prayers. I have known Mr. Ellis since I was about 7-8 years old, and I have lived at the ranch across the dirveway from him for the past 4 years. I have always loved working on the ranch and helping out. Over the past few years, I have always enjoyed taking supper or desserts over and chatting with him. He always had the most interesting stories about his life. I will miss having him around, and will treasure all the memories I have of him.

My Uncle Ellis was a unique and extraordinary man and there will never be another like him. He was a man known for his ability to put the needs of others before his own and throughout his life relied only on his own abilities.He was truly a self made man. Ellis Hitzing never sought praise or recognition for his charitable contributions or willingness to help a friend in need. I will always remember him and my Aunt Mabel.

I went to church with Ellis. I was told to call him and his wife Mr. or Mrs. Hitzing. But one sunday when they came in the church I said good morning Mr. and Mrs. Hitzing. That is when they stopped me and told me to call them Ellis and Mabel. that Mr. and Mrs. were for old people and they were not old. My heart is in sorrow for his passing but also jouyful to kn ow that he is in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. he will truly be missed here on earth. I know that one day I will see him and his wife again in heaven. May God send his comforting Angel down and be with his family during this time.

To our beloved Bert & ALL family members, we mourn with you at this time. Mr. Hitzing will always be a part of our memories--especially through the 1960's. Words cannot describe what an extraordinary person he was and we cannot express the influence he had on us as "The McClain Family". Even my son, feels that he knows the legacy of "EWH".
