LANGLEY Emmett Robert Langley, III (Bob). Bob was Born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 6, 1932 to Emmett Robert Langley, Jr. and Dorothy Ann Glore (Langley). The family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1940. He graduated from The Bolles School in 1951 and attended the Virginia Military Institute. While a cadet, he enlisted in the Army and left VMI to fight in the Korean War as an Army Ranger, where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Upon his discharge, he attended and graduated from the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. While attending GMI, he met his wife, Joyce (nee Waller), who was working at GMI. They were married in 1956 in Flint, Michigan and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where they remained for over 60 years and raised three daughters. Bob managed the family business, Langley Oldsmobile, for 36 years. After active duty in the Army, he joined the Army National Guard where he was a Green Beret (Camp Blanding, Florida) and served for another 10 years. Bob was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of South Jacksonville, and served as both President of his local chapter and later as District Governor for Florida District 6970. Bob was an avid hunter and sportsman. He hunted extensively in North America and Canada, and took the family on safari to Namibia, Africa in 2012. He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather. He is predeceased by his parents Emmett Robert Langley, Jr. and Dorothy Glore Langley; and his middle brother, James Crawford Langley. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his brother-in-law, Dick Waller; his youngest brother, Ronald Lee Langley (wife, Ann); and daughters, Kristy Langley Jenkins (Mike), Susan Langley Newman (Jim), Jennifer Langley Miller (Tim). My sincerest condolences to all of the Langley family. Losing such a family member is a difficult thing to bear.

Mr. Langley always treated me well, including in recent years when I would bump into him at the court house. He was kind, sharing, and thoughtful, never forgetting to ask "how's your momma and daddy?" - even just 3-4 months ago when I ran into him, Mrs. Langley, Mike and Kristi, at the Columbia restaurant. I am better off having known him and I appreciate all he ever did for me.

God bless you, Mr. Langley.

Our thought and prayers go out to the entire family. I will particularly miss Bob at Police Council meetings and luncheons where I would always make it a point to sit near him. I so loved to hear his hunting stories, family tales and patriotic discussions. It was always good to see Bob and family at San Jose Country Club. Bob was admired and appreciated by many.
