Wow,

I can only remember the kinds of things that bring a smile to my face where " Uncle George " is concerned. He was kind, full of humility, loved me like he loved each and every one of his own kids. We fished together as men, I learned from him as a teacher of young men. Mel, remember the balsa wood airplanes he made for us when you lived on Arlington Road ? He taught me about little league and gave me my first real glove. I was blessed to have been a part of his life and that he lovingly shared it with me.Remember too The Little Red Baron! I'll bet you forgot that and probably forgot tracking down trunkers at the drag strip in the back of the old Chrysler wagon.

He's off to the races now and I know he's enjoying it.

Lovingly, Kirk Hemingway

Dear Emmy and children,

My family was sorry to hear of George's death. We did not know he was ill. Hearing this news has brought back a lot of long time memories. I hope your loss and the preceeding struggle will be diminshed by the happy memories the two of you made over the last thirty years.

Dear Emmy: I just heard from mother. I am so sorry about George. He was always such a nice guy. I will never forget the way he always gave the ladies and their children from your sisters in Beta Sigma Phi the house for the Mother's Day luncheons. He must have been a great husband because he sure was a nice guy.

We will all miss him.

Dear Emmy & Family,

I met George and Emmy through my parents, Milt & Lynn Kahn. George and Emmy have been wonderful friends to my parents since moving to Jacksonville in the 80's and introducting them to The Captain's Club and inviting my mother to join Emmy's chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. I recall many stories my parents have shared regarding the wonderful times cruising with the Captain's Club and outings with the sorority with George and Emmy. I will never forget what a wonderful and whitty person George was and how he was always pulling me aside at the sorority parties or Captain's Club functions to tell me some funny joke. He was a kind and loving man and he will be greatly missed. I am so sorry I cannot be there with friends and family to celebrate George's life. My deepest sympathies.

Love,

Marian & Steve
