Haskew Brantley Obituary

Haskew Hawthorne Brantley, Jr., 78 a former State Senator and Real Estate developer died at Southeast Regional Hospital on August 23, 2001, from acute Leukemia. He served in the Georgia House of Representatives for six years and the Georgia State Senate for 12 years, representing Fulton County. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of the SAE Fraternity. He was inducted into the Georgia Tech. Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He served in the US Navy as a carrier based fighter pilot during World War II, The Korean War and later in the active reserves. He was a member of the Christ Church on Saint Simons Island. He was also a member of the Atlanta Classic Foundation and the Sean Island Golf Clubs. He is survived by his wife Rose Marie; three daughters Jaqueline Brantley, Lynn Tuttle and and her husband Douglas, Susan Lipson and her husband Daniel; one son David Brantley; four grandchildren, Christopher Lowell, Andrew Lowell, Michelle Lipson and Miriam Lipson; and his sister Nelda Burke and her husband Robert. In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts be made in his name to the charity of your choice. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday August 24, at 108 Enclave Ln., St. Simons Is. GA. The funeral will be 11:00 am Christ Church on St. Simons Island with a reception at the family residence at 108 Enclave Ln., St. Simons Is. GA. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com
