Jack Andrew Coleman

COLEMAN Jack Andrew Coleman, age 88, slipped peacefully into the arms of his Savior on June 6, 2009. Born in Detroit on July 16, 1920, he was the son of Helen Stribley Coleman and Capt. Andrew Simon Coleman. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Patricia Marie Darby Coleman, and their children Judith Coleman Boyle, Ph.D. (Michael) of Amelia Island, FL; Patrick Coleman (Gael) of Jacksonville; and Jack ("Mike") Andrew Coleman, Jr., M.D. (Margaret) of Murfreesboro, TN, as well as ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Jack began his career as an electrical engineer, later becoming President of Sperti Pharmaceutical Company. He retired as the CEO of the Highland Coal & Chemical Company. During this time his frequent moves took his family and him to many places, primarily Miami, FL, and Cincinnati, Ohio. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Queen City Club, The Optimists Club of Cincinnati, and the Bankers Club. A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 9th, from 4 to 6, at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 10th, at 11AM, at the Westside Chapel, 4541 Shirley Avenue, Jacksonville, 32210. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Chapel.
