Dear Jim and Kathy,
Sharing my mantra and quote that I repeat and live by has been helpful so sharing them with you:

On behalf of the family I would like to say thank you for all of those who loved him dearly. I knew from the moment I met him at around 2 weeks old he would fill our hearts with love. We received much more as the years went by. He is our heavenly child now and surrounded by loving spirits. He will truly bring his gift of story telling to all those around him.
Love you James.

We are deeply saddened to hear about James passing. Our heart goes out to the Dahl family. Jim, I remember playing pick up basketball with James, you and others when he was an underclass man at Bolles at your home on River Road.
Words can't convey our feelings of grief but our thoughts and prayers will be with your family and friends during this most difficult time.

It was this time of year in 2003 when I was welcomed into the Dahl's home in Jacksonville for a 4 week rotation at Shands. Having been acquainted with James and his family through Jame's strong friendship with my brother, I was still surprised by Jame's, Jim's, and Kate's gracious hospitality to put me up. Although my time spent with the Dahl's was limited during my 4 weeks in Jacksonville, I was deeply impressed by, and grateful for their willingness to reach out. My fondest memory of that time was spending a beautiful February day at Ponte Vedra Beach with James playing tennis, golf, and just hanging out. He was a true friend with a big heart and one hell of a sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
My warmest thoughts and prayers are with the Dahl family during this time. Thank you all for everything you've done for me and my family, and may God bless you...

Heartbroken...
You were way too brilliant for this world. May your brilliant mind be at peace
James was an unconditional and loving friend. My high school sweetheart... my first real love
In all truth he was the first man in my life ( other than my sweet Dad clearly )that taught me I could do anything I wanted... and since falling for him at the age 17 ...I have been relentless in the pursuit of my dreams.
James didn't just dream things ...he executed his dreams
He was laser focused when he wanted to be
His authentic passion, insane skill set in film, and his love for his family will continue to be a legacy that inspires all of us
Although we were on separate coasts he was always there In every sunset on a lake, every NYC loud obnoxious horn, and in every tender moment that ( respectfully) most men just don't understand ...
James has and always will be a huge part of my life . I will miss knowing he was "there"... he just empowered everyone he met. May we never NEVER take for granted the legacy he built and may we continue to nurture our friends, families, and strangers with that legacy
I love you James. I will never forget you
Thank you Trina Dahl Miller, Jim and Kathy Dahl , and Kate Dahl for loving him so selflessly

My dear friend, I love you and will miss you dearly. I remember when we spoke in length about Into The Wild the first time we met, amazing pickle ball matches, and genuine friendship. We spoke about being at peace too. Uncle Jamo as my son called you; You are now and will forever be in eternal peace. Until we meet again brother.
