James Weinberg Obituary

WEINBERG Mr. James R. "Randy" Weinberg, 74 of Yulee, died at his home September 18, 2009. A native of Howell, GA, Randy moved to Jacksonville at an early age. A 1952 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, he married the love of his life Joan Adams in 1955 and they shared 53 years of marriage until her recent death January 25, 2009. He was a member of West Jacksonville Primitive Baptist Church. With an initiation date of February 19, 1954 Randy was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 234 for over 55 years where he served as Recording Secretary 1961-1963 and Inside Guard in later years. A Yulee resident for 40 years, he was the current Vice-President of the Northeast Florida Sportsman's Club in his Edwards Road Community. An honest and kind man he was always willing to help a neighbor. He took pride in being a lifetime member of the NRA. An avid reader of books such as Louis L'Amour, he loved western movies, family, friends and good food. He always had great stories and was a very intelligent man. Survivors include 3 sisters Catherine Coleman (George), Eula Mae Teston (Doug), Elaine Simpson (Harvey), 4 brothers, Ray "Buddy" Weinberg, John, Tommy, and Larry (Teresa) Tomlinson, 3 sons, Michael (Debbie), Douglas (Teresa), David (Auriel) and 1 daughter, Tammy Minton (Johnny), 9 grandchildren Clint, Tiffany, Madison and Alisa Weinberg, Ronald Willis, Brittney and John Minton, Janna and Jadon Weaver and 1 great-grandson, Preston Willis and many nephews and nieces. Joan's sister Carol and her husband Don Ruska were of great help to Joan during her illness and in the months since her death in helping Randy through such a difficult time. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening at Oxley-Heard funeral home, 1305 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL. The funeral service will be held in the Burgess Chapel at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM with Elder Gordon Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest next to Joan in Hughes Cemetery, Yulee, FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8384 Baymeadows Road, Suite 10, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Pallbearers will be Union brothers: Blackie Beatty, Kingsley Tharpe, Bill Waller, Sr., James Nickles, Curt Tharpe, Russell Drawdy, Jerry Thomas, and Ronny Andrews with alternate pallbearers Johnny Blanc and Johnny Thomas. Uncle Randy, as i write this to you i start to cry thinking that you are so lucky to get to see daddy and Aunt Joan and granny.. i will miss you soo much and words cant discribe how much i love you and all the Adams/Weinberg family.. i just loved coming out to spend time with you on Randy Road.. and that will always be apart of me. We all know that uncle Randy is with anunt Joan in paradise talking about how great it is to be there..my hope is that we all get saved also so we can see them one day...i know that the family dearly misses both of them but they are in a better place...may god give all us peace about them leaving us so soon..god bless..
