Jerry R. Baughn Sr.

BAUGHN Funeral services for Jerry R. Baughn, Sr., 69, will be held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 11:00AM at Spring Glen United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. A native of Nauvoo, Alabama and resident of Jacksonville, he moved to Washington DC in 1956, where he worked for the FBI for four years and served as a police officer for 20 years, 16 of which were served as a motorcycle officer in special events, where he often escorted dignitaries, including several presidents of the United States. In 1959, he married Peggy Boone. They lived in the DC area with their children until moving to Jacksonville in 1982. He attended Spring Glen United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Justice Columbia Masonic Lodge in DC and an honorary member of two other Masonic lodges, including #159 in Jacksonville. In his later years, Jerry took great joy in volunteering as "Santa Clause" for children's groups, nursing homes, and adults with special needs. In addition to Peggy, his wife of 48 years, he is also survived by his daughter Debbie Stanley (Rick) of Columbia, MD; his son Jerry Jr. (Jane) of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Dana of Jacksonville, FL and five grandchildren. Survivors also include his brother Oneil (Lucy) of Eldridge, AL; brother Bill (Shirley) of Savannah, GA; brother Lowell (Sue Nell) of Statesboro, GA; and his sister Fredda DeLoach (Bill) of Metter, GA. He is also survived by many step-brothers and step-sisters, several nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.
