Joseph Simcsuk

SIMCSUK Funeral Mass for Joseph Simcsuk, 75, will be celebrated at 10:30am, Monday, July 18, 2011, in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with Father Jose Kallukalam officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military honors. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00pm, Sunday, in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South. Born June 14, 1936 in Passaic, New Jersey, Mr. Simcsuk died Thursday, July 14, 2011, in a local hospital. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Simcsuk was retired from the United States Navy, MR1 (E-6). He was also retired from the City of Jacksonville Motor Pool. He moved to Jacksonville in 1972 following his retirement from the Navy at Mayport Naval Station Jacksonville. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church for 38 years, where he served as an usher, and was a member of the Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus. He helped his wife, Margaret, for 20 years with Trinity Meals on Wheels. He will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Margaret (Rita) Simcsuk, whom he met while stationed in Scotland; also sisters, Lorraine Gerardi of Fairfield, N.J. and Barbara Pepe of Elmwood Park, N.J.
