June Sessions Obituary

SESSIONS June Teresa Sessions, 65, devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 21, 2012. The only daughter of Ishmael and Miriam Doug Shuman was born on December 7, 1946. She was a lifelong Jacksonville resident and devoted fan of Florida Gator football. June devoted her life to her family and her Catholic faith. Following her retirement from the US Postal Service after nearly twenty years, June celebrated life by spending time with her Church, her friends, and her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony; sons Scott and Bryan, and daughter Lisa Mayes; granddaughter Lauren Higginbotham, and grandsons Scotty and Adam Sessions; and her brother, Bobby. The family will greet friends on Monday August 27 from 6-8 pm at the Arlington Park Funeral Home at 6920 Lone Star Road, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 8 pm. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday August 28 at 10 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Road, with Msgr Keith Brennan officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in June's name to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or the Alzheimer's Association Central North Florida Chapter. I was heart-broken to hear of June's passing...I worked with her for many years at the Orange Park and Ridgeview Post offices. She was a beautiful and sweet lady with a beautiful smile...she was someone you could confide in and never have to worry about her repeating what you told her.She was like my big sister and, even though a few years had went by without seeing her...it was good to know she was still here.May God bless and comfort her family...Rest in Peace June...love you.

I miss one of the nicest persons that I have ever worked with. She never raised her voice to me no matter what kind of mistake that I made.

My family met June and her family at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She consistently volunteered to chaperone on Girl Scout outings with me. She had been a past president of the Women's Council there. Her kids attended school there also. We unknowingly purchased lots to build our homes 2 lots apart on Bridges Rd. & became neighbors. For 20 years, we went out 4 times a year for our birthdays, my friends, June, Lucy, Phyllis and I. June was a tribute to all "beautiful women" inside and out. She was a good mother, a good daughter, a good grandmother, a good wife and a good friend. She was devoted to her family with all her love and full of pride at their accomplishments. She was a convert to catholicism, devout in her love of the eucharist, Our Lady & the rosary. She was good-to-go to any prayer meeting or pro-life event to strengthen her faith. Her trademark was her fierce and passionate loyalty to her faith, family & friends. She was a great hostess giving countless showers and parties at her home. She was way too young to leave us and we will miss her sooo much. May she rest in peace.
