Lee Turner Obituary

TURNER Lee Turner, III (BO) went home to the Lord on June 8, 2016, at the age of 58. Bo was born to Lee & Dianne Turner in old St. Luke's Hospital on August 28, 1957. He lived most of his life in Jacksonville and graduated from Bellevue High School in Nashville, and graduated with honors from UNF with a degree in Physical Education. He worked as a physical trainer, at Blue Cross, and did contract work for CXI. He loved to sing, and to play drums for musicals and for recordings. He once surprised his mom and dad by singing The National Anthem at a Sun's game. One summer he went to YMCA camp and won first place in every category with tennis, archery, and the like. His great joy was riding his bike long distances every day and riding for the MS Drive to Daytona and back in the fall. He ran the Gate River Run many times -- once with his dad. He loved blueberry pop tarts, rice, cookies. He is survived by his parents, brothers Kelly (Mary) and Gavin (Lori), nieces and nephews: Matthew, Carmen, Griffin and Emily, and his cat, Squeaky. Bo's family and friends will gather for a memorial service at Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., on Tuesday, June 14, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m.

Lee was my friend for many years. He lived in the same apartment complex as I. I remember the first time I met him, he was jogging and I said hey, how far are you running, he laugh and said 10 miles, I said see you later. He said no, you can do it, try. I said ok, I will start tomorrow. From that day we become good friend. We both loved to ride our road bikes, work out, loved our cats, pizza and the lord. He was one of the kindest people I had ever known. He gave me a photo of a cat cartoon that I will always cherish. This is the kind of person Lee was. One day he was jogging and ran past me, I was standing outside with two flat tires crying...Lee stopped and offer to help me. He took his spare tire from his trunk and gave it to me...later on that night, he knocked on my door with an envelope and said do not open until I leave. It put $150 dollars in it and told me to go buy two new tires. He said he was a man of God and God wanted him to help me. Then another time I had locked myself on my patio and the temperatures inside was over 100.. I saw Lee again, jogging by and yelled for him.. he again rescued me....when I lost my brother he was there for support. This past year, I started working another job and did not get to see him as often. The last time I saw him, he said he was on his way to get a sandwich that someone had made him. He loved his cat and he loved his family.. he loved working out and loved helping others. I had surgery the first of June and notice last week that I have not seen or heard from him. I notice his blinds were pulled up which was not something Lee would do. His car was there, so I knew he was home... I knocked on his door several times, but again this wasn't unusual for Lee or me, I wouldn't answer the door most times either. I just found out today this morning as I was walking my dog, I looked up again and said something not right....I know Lee told me that he hadn't planned on moving out anytime soon....the neighbor told me. I am so lost for words, he was my friend, I felt safe knowing he was there...for all of us. Every Wed night he would go to church...he told me about him singing at the Suns game and was thrilled. Our home will never be the same. I will miss him, I will miss seeing him jogging by with those blue shorts on, I will miss him riding his bike, mostly, I will miss our talks. Rest in peace my friend. Love you and miss you. I am so glad his family has his cat, he loved him so much.

We must say what a beautiful memorial service for "Bo" We were so blessed to have been there and to hear and see the beautiful and inspiring service . I think even God in His Way took time to look in and see His name being praised and songs from the heart. God bless the Turner family...

Lee and Dianne, I'm so sorry to read of Bo's passing. Although I hadn't seen him in many years, I remember how caring and wonderful he was. He generously helped me and played drums for musicals I directed at San Jose Baptist and Arlington United Methodist many years ago and I have never forgotten. God bless you both and your whole family at this time. You are loved. - Virginia and Jim Dickert
