Michael Izak Obituary

IZAK Michael Robert Izak (Bob) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 after a long brave battle with cancer. He was born August 31, 1928 to Michael and Anne Izak from Ambridge, PA. After graduating from Ambridge High School, Bob joined the Navel Air Transport Service (NATS) and served until after the end of WWII. He was awarded the Victory Medal. A man of many talents, he sang tenor in the Pittsburgh Symphony Choir and earned a degree in Commercial Art and Advertizing from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Bob was hired by the Sun Oil Company as a Sales and Marketing Representative and retired as their Real Estate Manager. After working in many locations on the East Coast, Bob took early retirement and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach which he and Jo have called home for the last 26 years, and where he enjoyed playing golf and gin rummy at both the Sawgrass and Ponte Vedra Beach Country Clubs. He is survived by Jo Hervoic Izak, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years; Rebecca Izak, his daughter; Michael Izak, his son; Marian Izak and Dorothy Barcikowski, his two sisters; Kathleen and Michael Izak, his grandchildren; and other loving family members. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22nd in Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel DePascale as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's memory may be sent to Community Hospice of NE FL, McGraw Center, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32216.
