In addition to being a close family friend, Nancy Liming was my teacher at Arlington Country Day School(then a sixth grade center). I still feel the impact today, that she had on my life nearly 30 years ago. She stimulated me in not only a variety of subjects (the most memorable breakthrough being long division!), but also in my social skills, and she was a part of my life at an age when I was becoming aware of my identity as a person separate from my own parents.
Although I have a love for learning, I never liked many of my school years all that much. Nancy Liming remains to me a symbol of the single brightest year I ever had in my years of public schooling. Next to my own parents, she is the one who lives on in my mind as the embodiment of everything a teacher should strive to pass on to a child.

I was a third grade student of Ms. Liming as well as a piano student. She made a major impact on my life and will always be remembered. She was a wonderful woman. I am sorry for your loss.

I usually don't read the obituaries but as I was turning the pages of the newspaper this Sunday the name Liming happened to grab my attention. For you see, I have very fond memories of my 3rd grade teacher who I remember as my favorite elementary teacher and her name was Mrs. Liming. I proceeded to read and discovered it was in fact my teacher at Parkwood Heights in 1961. I still live in Jacksonville and wanted to share this with family of Mrs. Liming and let them know how she touched my life as an 8 year old so much that I still remember her at 49 even though I never saw her again past those elementary years. My thoughts and prayers go to those who loved her and I'm sure will miss her.
