Patricia Gordon Obituary

GORDON Patricia Gordon (Patty), age 48, died unexpectedly 7/26/12. She was born April 5, 1964, in Long Island, New York, to Bill and Anne Gordon of Lake Asbury. She was raised in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, baptized in Holy Family Catholic Church in Hicksville, NY, before relocating to Jacksonville in 1971, when her father was transferred with his job. She graduated from Sandalwood High School in 1982, Florida State University in 1986 and University of North Florida in 1988. She was a integral part of St Marks Episcopal Day School faculty, serving as Athletic Director since September 1990 and active with flag football, after school events and the Ortega River Run. She enjoyed developing the students leadership and team building skills through annual trips to Earthshine in North Carolina. Patty was the ultimate sports fan, an avid Florida State footfall fan, a loyal season ticket holder since her graduation from FSU. She was the tailgate organizer with family and friends, even traveling to many away games over the years. Patty also was a Buffett fan, once again organizing family and friends at local and out of town concerts. Her most admirable quality was her unending loyalty to her parents, siblings, friends, co-workers, her students and their parents. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, opinions, ability to motivate, organize, support, and be available for those who needed her. She was the best daughter, sister and friend ever and will be forever missed. Survivors include her parents, sister Jill LeFave (Steve), brother Will (Bobbie Anding), brother Tom, sister Anne Schiefer (Bob), their children Colton and Cassidy, brother Michael (Julie) and their children Patrick, William and Mikey, and her many cats who loved her dearly. Her memory will live on in our hearts and in those who receive her organs. Memorial services will he held Tuesday, July 31, 2012, 2 pm, at St Marks Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Av, Jacksonville, Florida 32210. In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials to St. Marks Episcopal Day School, 4114 Oxford Av, Jacksonville, Florida 32210, in her honor. Well my friend, it's been a year now and not a day passes that I don't think about you and miss you. It is still so hard to believe that your are gone. Gone way too soon! I know you're enjoying heaven, but I wish you were here with us. So many things just aren't the same without you! You were the kindest and most generous person and I'm a better person for having known you! Keep an eye on us and every time I see a butterfly, I will know you're near! I'm sure you've got great seats to all the games, so you and my dad better save us some seats! I know you'll have some Pepsi and my favorite dip waiting. I'm sure you're keeping everyone up there in line! I love and miss you my friend!!! Go Seminoles!!!

My deepest sympathy to the Gordon family. I was so lucky to know Patty at Sandalwood and was on the swim team with her, Anne, and Michael. My favorite memories of her were her ability to make you smile, laugh, and just feel comfortable. Her humor and personality was a gift to all that knew her. The drive down to the state meet with her and Mrs. Gordon driving a van load of us swimmers was so much fun. She will forever be remembered and loved.

Rest in peace, Ms. Gordon. Your class was the best part of my day for six years. And I won't soon forget the lesson you personified to a generation of Ortega boys: the girls are just as tough as we are--if not tougher!

I had the honor to meet such a wonderful person in Patty. I was one of physical therapist that treated her when she came into the clinic for treatment. We had so many things in common such as graduating from Sandalwood and from Florida State. She always made me smile and laugh every single time. Heaven has welcomed an angel!!!!

She was so kind to everyone. May God's sweet spirit sweep through your hearts and home and give you peace during this time. I love your family and will keep you in my prayers!

More than a friend, Patty became a sister of mine over the years. Since having the pleasure of meeting & working with this fine person at FSU, she always cared. The caring took us to the highest of lasting relationships. The Gordon family warmly welcomed me in as a child and sibling, basically when they saw there was no getting rid of me. :) Whenever I needed a friend, Patty was there either in person or over the phone - sharing her endless friendship of good energy, comradery and many, many laughs! Jacky D put it in total truth & perspective... Patty with her heart of gold is still doing her work for others, I'm sure, in the light as she did here with us. I'll continue to count on her guidance. Thank you sis, for always being there. God bless my family Gordon. My best always, Kevin

If tears could build a stairway
and memories a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say ‘goodbye'
You were gone before we knew it
and only God knows why
Our hearts still aches in sadness
and secret tears will flow
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever know
But now we know you want us
to mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store
Since you'll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today -
A hallowed place within our hearts
is where you'll always stay

Patty was a delightful friend who always made me feel better when I was troubled. Her wonderful wit worked on adults and children alike. It's hard to imagine the St. Mark's campus without her. My prayers are with her family at this time of such great sadness and loss.

Patty was one of my best friends. Words can't describe how much I will miss her. She had a heart of gold and I am a better person for having known her these past 21 years. She was a blessing in my life and I am proud to have called her my friend. Although I would give anything to have her here with us, I have comfort in knowing she is watching down on me. She was an angel on earth and now she her wings in heaven. My thought and prayers are with her wonderful family!! I love you all!

Love and Hugs!
