Richard J. Cannon

CANNON Richard J. Cannon, 72, who was a member of the Senior Executive Service in US Department of Agriculture, died December 8 at the home of his daughter, Susan Darnell, in Ashburn, Virginia of complications resulting from cancer. Mr. Cannon was born and raised in Minden, Nebraska, received his degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and also served in the US Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara, sons, Michael of Mason, Ohio and Thomas of Fairfax, daughter Susan Darnell of Ashburn and three grandchildren. Memorial service to be held Thursday, December 12 at his birthplace in Minden, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse Learning Center, 550 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073. Layton Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
