Barker Sr.
Capt. Robert Lester Barker Sr., 83, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 22, 2021. Robert was born in Jacksonville, FL on June 7,1938 and placed in The Boys Home on University Blvd. at the age of 9, after the death of his mother in 1945. He attended Landon High School and joined the Marine Corp at the age of 17. He honorably served 21 years including 3 tours of duty overseas. He also retired after 30 years at the US Postal Service in Orange Park for a total of 50 years' service to his country. Robert was a Deacon at Oakleaf Baptist Church. A devoted husband and loyal father and grandfather.

Capt. Barker was predeceased by his parents: Woodrow and Luvinie Barker; 2 sisters: Linda Sue Gaston and Mary Elizabeth Croft; and a grandson, William Shane Reaves. Robert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Audrey Connell Barker; 3 children: Robert Lester (Mary Elizabeth) Barker Jr., Luvinie Carol (William Alan) Reaves and Roy Glenn (Donna Lynn) Barker; 3 siblings: Kathleen (Frank) Hamwey; Larry N. (Mary Ann) Welch, Johnny (Donna) Barker; and 5 grandchildren: Ricky (Jessica) Barker, Christopher (Stacey) Barker, Ryan (Emily) Reaves, Trey (Holly) Barker and Logan (Hanna) Barker; 8 great-grandchildren: Marcus, Roman, Everest, Evelyn, Piper, Elias, Lincoln and Alden; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Oakleaf Baptist Church, 800 Oakleaf Plantation Parkway, Orange Park, FL.
