Ted Szymanski Obituary

SZYMANSKI
Mr. Ted Szymanski, 97, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Mr. Szymanski, known as "Ski", was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was a retired U.S. Navy submarine veteran of WWII. Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Lois, settled in Jacksonville in 1962. He then began a ten year employment with the U.S. Postal Service. As a pastime he truly enjoyed fishing. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years in 2017, Lois Iva Szymanski. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Gail Lewis (Robert); and other loving family and friends. Graveside Services, with military honors, will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, January 23, at Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane #2).

To family and friends of Theodore Szymanski, FTC(SS); on behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans - USSVI, please accept our sincere condolences at Theodore's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find kindness to warm you, sympathy to comfort you, and cherished memories to bring peace to your heart.

We are forever grateful for Ski's service to our country in the United States Submarine service. Theodore served on the USS Drum (SS-228) in 1942 (War Patrols 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9) and was FTC(SS) when he transferred to the Fleet Reserve in 1963. He also served aboard the USS Wahoo (SS-565), USS Plunger (SS-179 in 1942, USS Apogon (SS-308) in 1944-45, USS Razorback (SS-394) 1947-50, USS Trutta (SS-421) 1956-57, USS Odax (SS-484) 1958, and USS Amberjack (SS-522) 1960. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch.
