Dear Sister Ramona, Gwen & Larry,

I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Johns passing, but we have to know he's not suffering and is in a much, much better place, and most of all, in God's tender and loving embrace. I've known Bro. Johns so many years, growing up at Tenth St. Baptist Church, singing in the choir under his direction, and then when he surrendered to the ministry, it was a wonderful experience. He will be truly missed, as a great and powerful man of God, and as a true friend. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.

I was sadden to hear about Vernon (what he told us to call him) passing away. But I know the he passed from life to life. He is now in heaven waiting for the ones who helped while he was here on the earth. My family (Hoskins) knew Vernon and my dad (Charles) is also up in heaven and I know those two are having a great eternity talking and worshiping our Lord and Saviour. May God send his comforting angel down to comfort the family in this time. Remember it is a celebration of Vernons life.

Dear Sister Romona and Family,

Although we were saddened to hear the news that our dear Brother in Christ departed this life on December 16,2004 at the very moment that we heard the news of your passing, however,we were rejoicing because we knew that this "Good and Faithful Servant" of Our Lord will be celebrating Jesus's birthday in Heaven this year. Upon hearing this news,we realized that our dearly departed brethren is safe now in the arms of Our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories that we have of you Dr. Johns and your family when you was the choir director and later the pastor of Tenth Street Baptist Church that was located in Jacksonville, Florida.

We will never forget the night that you first surrendered to the ministry of Our Lord. Your soul-winning and witnessing for Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be forever etched in our hearts and souls. The song that the trio sang that night was "Jesus Use Me." God has truly used you in a miraculous way.

Not only did you touch our lives then as teenagers, but you have touched the hearts and lives of so many others.

May God give your family the comfort and peace that they need to sustain them during this time of your homegoing and their berievement.

What a glad and happy reunion that will be when we all shall meet you again one day at Jesus' feet! AMEN.

With our sympathy, love, and prayers,

Brother Johns was preaching at Tenth Street Baptist Church when I had the pleasure of knowing and learning from him. We were not just members, we were all family because of his fine leadership, gentle spirit and sweet love for his congregation. I'm sure my whole family (The Stafford's) join me in prayer for your family and in sorrow for your loss. May God place his loving hands on your hearts and give you peace in knowing Brother Johns gets to celebrate Christmas with Jesus this year.

I was saddened to know that Dr. Johns was called from this physical world into the eternal, but glad to know that he is now rejoicing in the presence of the Savior, the one that he has taught about for all these years. I just wanted to let the Johns family know that you are all in my prayers. I worked with Gwen and felt like I knew the entire family. I know you're rejoicing that Dr. Johns is now with our Savior, but we are still humans and feel terribly that he is no longer with us physically. The Lord will continue to comfort and keep each of you during this very difficult time. Please know that your extended family is always nearby to lend an ear, shoulder and most of all prayers for comfort and guidance.

May Jesus continue to wrap you in his loving arms always,

In Him,

Allen Cole
