William PERDUE Obituary

PERDUE William I. Perdue of Keystone Heights, FL, passed away on Sunday September 3, 2017, at the Custead Care Center of Haven Hospice, Orange Park from complications of injuries sustained in a car fire in February 2017. Mr. Perdue passed away with his wife, Judith R. Perdue of Keystone Heights by his side on the morning of their 46th wedding anniversary. Mr. Perdue was born April 5, 1943, in Jacksonville, FL to his parents Frederick M. Perdue, Sr. and Elizabeth Lillian Plaxco Perdue. He attended local public schools and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1961. Mr. Perdue attended the University of Florida where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho professional fraternity, and sang in the University of Florida chorus. He also attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mr. Perdue also grew up on Lake Brooklyn in Keystone Heights where he spent many days enjoying boating and water skiing. During his later life he also enjoyed toy train collecting and going to toy train shows, singing in the choirs of Riverside Presbyterian Church, bird watching, boating and eating in many different restaurants in Florida and Georgia. He retired from the Clay County Property Appraiser's Office in December of 2008. In addition to his wife Judi, he is survived by his brother, Frederick M. Perdue, Jr. (Linda), of Fultondale, AL., 2 nephews Christopher Perdue and Timothy Perdue, both of Fultondale, AL, many cousins including Margaret Dart Love, of Jacksonville, Jody Love and his son Mitchell, of Jacksonville, Carolyn Love Veros (David) and their children Natalie and Tripp of St. Augustine, FL, Margaret Carroll Hartman (John) of Jacksonville, FL, Bryant S. Carroll III (Kelly) and their sons Bryant S. Carroll IV and Robert of New Orleans, LA, a great-niece, Kesley Perdue and a great-nephew, Tanner Perdue, both of Jasper, AL. He was predeceased by his parents, nephew Geoffrey Scott Perdue of Jasper, AL and cousins Carolyn Dart Carroll (Bryant S. Carroll, Jr.) and Florence Dart (Horace Dart). Memorial Services will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church 849 Park St., Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Burial and graveside services will take place at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2017. The family will receive friends prior to services, from 12:30 until 1:45 PM in the parlor of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Bill's name to the organ fund or Music Ministry of Riverside Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all the many wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers who have devoted so much time and energy in caring for Bill during this past year, including the staffs at Kindred Hospital - North Florida in Green Cove Springs, Heartland Health Care Center in Orange Park, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL, Haven Hospice in Orange Park and Orange Park Medical Center.
