Clarice Allen Obituary
She was born Nov. 16, 1945 in Corning, N.Y. to Sarah and Robert Brennan.
Clarice graduated from Mansfield University and taught second grade until moving to Rochester, N.Y.
She became a student and then a teacher of decorative painting which was a passion for her until her death.
She was a member of SDP, SVDP, CADANC (painting societies), Beverley Manor Chapter of DAR, Waynesboro-Staunton Region AACA and Covenant Presbyterian Church of Staunton.
Clarice is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stuart Allen; a son and his wife, Stuart, Jr. and Yu-Chin Allen of Rochester N.Y.; a daughter and her husband, Beth and Robert Burnap of Glen Allen, Va.; six grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Robert, Jr. and Gloria Brennan of Lawrenceville; a sister and her husband, Roberta and Donald Stratton of Lawrenceville; as well as two brothers-in-law, Jack Brackley of Lawrenceville, and Verle Sterling of Roseville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Brennan; and three sisters, Almeria Kriger, Patricia Brackley, and Janice Sterling.
A memorial service will be held Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2001 North Coalter St., Staunton, VA, 24401. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Russell Allen, Susan Allen, Thomas Allen, Joshua Burnap, Jack Burnap, and Jonathan Burnap.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beverley Manor Chapter DAR or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
