Doris Mae Metcalf, 96, of Milledgeville, Ga., formerly of Potter Brook and Port Allegany, died Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Lynn Haven Health & Rehabilitation, Gray, Ga.
Born April 4, 1925, in Potter Brook, she was the daughter of William Richard and Agnes Mae Robbins Truax.
On Aug. 28, 1943, in Potter Brook, she married Wilbert Richard Metcalf, who predeceased her in 1977.
A graduate of Westfield High School, she was employed by Galeton Production during and after World War II from 1944 – 1947 and The Goodie Gallery in Milledgeville from 1981 – 1992.
Doris was a member of Order of the Eastern Star #33 in Westfield, Potter Brook Happy Hour Club and First Christian Church, Milledgeville.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Kobbe of Milledgeville and her family, Eric (Ashley) Kobbe, Kinsey (Charles) Kinnamon, Anna Kobbe and Chloe Kobbe; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Kay (Gary) Pennington of Milledgeville and their family, Kevin Caden, Eve (Matt) Derstine, Sophia Derstine and Haleigh Pennington; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick (Janine) Metcalf of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and their family, Matthew (Amber) Metcalf, Mason Metcalf, Bailey Metcalf, Marc (Annie) Metcalf, Samuel Metcalf and Abby Metcalf; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Gary Pennington, Jr.; a son-in-law, Alan L. Kobbe and two sisters, Ruth E. Orcutt and Elberta L. Potter. Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, on Friday, July 23, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., with Funeral Services following at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Potter Brook.
