Joel W. Cumberledge Jr., 74, of Knoxville passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born July 1, 1946 in Wellsboro, he was the son of the late Joel W. and Ethel M. (Barber) Cumberledge Sr. Junior retired in 2000 from Consolidated Gas Transmission after 30 years of service.
He loved gardening and his favorite pastime was flying his Cessna 150 airplane.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Victoria; his daughter, Traci and Bruce Allen of Lawrenceville; three grandchildren, Megan Button of Elkland, Jordan Allen of Missouri and Stephanie Armstrong of Henrietta, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Dallas and Brynlee Victoria Button, Hasan and Haven Armstrong Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Dimon of Geneseo, N.Y. and Sandra and Eugene Lamphier of Westfield and many nieces and nephews who love him dearly.
Junior was preceded by death by his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Fred Mack and brother-in-law, Kenneth Dimon.
Per his request there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Road, Suite 105, Northfield, IL 60093 or please give blood in his honor.
