LUCILLE SHERMAN Obituary
She was born on Sept. 12, 1920, in Wellsboro, a daughter of the late Harry P. and Mabel O. (Kennedy) Jones and was the wife of the late Hobart R. Sherman who died on Oct. 26, 1982.
Lucille was a member and church organist for the Middle Ridge United Methodist Church, member and past chapter regent of the DAR, past president of the Colonial Dames and former member of the Gaines Kitchen Band.She was a teacher for 29 ½ years working in the Blackwell School, West Branch School, Dexter School, Middlebury School, Charlotte Lappla School and was the principal at the Stony Fork School. She also was a lay minister.
Lucille is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and Larry Sherman of Clemmons, N.C., Sue Ann Cunningham of Montoursville; daughter-in-law: Kathryn Sherman of Middletown; sister, Isabelle Gitchell of Wellsboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Harry Sherman on July 17, 2013.
Friends called on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsboro. A funeral service was held today, Wednesday, Sept 4, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with the Rev. Eugene A. Charsky officiating. Interment will be in the West Branch Cemetery.

I am truly sorry to hear of her passing. I had Mrs. Sherman as a third grade teacher at Stony Fork. Stony Fork and Mrs. Sherman surely bring back some good memories.
