WALDO WOOD Obituary
Wally spent his lifetime operating the Wood Century Farm. He was a passionate entrepreneur who owned and managed numerous innovative businesses throughout his life, always ahead of his time and driven by a visionary spirit. He enjoyed listening to music and he always had a song to sing for anyone and everything. At one point in his life, he was a member of a barbershop quartet. Wally also was an outdoorsman; he loved mowing his lawn, tending to the farm, going on picnics by the river and in his youth and camping. It was said that he always had a positive outlook on life and he always had a smile, lighting up any room he walked into. Wally was a devoted member of the Jemison Valley Church; in his younger years he was a deacon and a respected leader amongst the church. He also was a member of The Grange and several farming organizations like the Pennsylvania Farmers' Association. His faith in God, his family and the farm were all the lights of his life.
Wally is survived by his loving wife, Esther D. Wood of Knoxville; children, Wayne (Kathlene) Wood of Knoxville, Sheldon Wood of Knoxville, Joanne (Brian) Heffner of Wernersville and Colleen (Alan) Moore of Charlotte, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; a son, Larry Wood; and siblings, Naoma Leathers, Eleanor Cobb, John Wood and Mary Wetmore.
Per Wally's wishes, private services are to be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Waldo's honor to a charity of your choosing. Arrangements are in the care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc. www.kenyonfuneralhome.com
