Alexander Janco Obituary

Alexander S. Janco, 91, of Franklin Avenue, Palmerton, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 25, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Palmerton Campus. He was the husband of the late Antonia M. (Harmady) Janco, who died in 1999.
He worked in the maintenance department of the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for over 44 years before retiring in 1981.
Born in Stary Tekov, Levice, the former Czechoslovakia, he was a son of the late Karol and Mary (Pustai) Janco.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Janco was an Army veteran of World War II, having participated in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He attained the rank of Tech 5.
He was a member of the American Legion Post and Sokol Club, both of Palmerton, and a life member of the Palmerton Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are two sons, Edward A., and his wife, Ann, of Rome, N.Y., and Robert A., and his companion, Barbara Niehoff, of Palmerton; a sister, Mary Marushak of Laurys Station; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Sevice: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton. Interment with military honors, parish's new cemetery, Palmerton. Call 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Contributions in his name may be made to the memorial fund of the church, 243 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, Pa. 18071.
