Benjamin 'Benny' Walker
Benjamin "Benny" Walker, 54, of Nesquehoning, passed away on March 29, 2026, in the St. Luke's Miners Hospital, Coaldale.
Born on Nov. 30, 1971, in Hazleton, he was a beloved husband, devoted father and respected member of his community.
He was the husband of Mary Beth (Mauro) Walker, who survives him along with their cherished daughters, Maura A. and Mollie E., both residents of Nesquehoning.
Ben's family was a source of great pride and joy throughout his life.
Benjamin was the son of the late Benjamin Walker and Joanne (Cannon) Walker of Lansford. Joanne is accompanied by her companion, Joseph J. Velitsky.
Benjamin also leaves behind his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Anna Mary Mauro of Hometown, as well as his brother-in-law, Tony Mauro, his wife, Ginger Mauro, and their children, John, Daniel and Luke.
A graduate of Panther Valley High School, Class of 1989, Ben was an active member of the school's track team. He pursued higher education with great determination, earning his bachelor's degree from Penn State University and further advancing his studies to obtain a master's degree from Kutztown University.
Professionally, Ben dedicated his career to the well-being of others, serving as a mental health worker for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit. His compassionate and empathetic nature was recognized and appreciated by many who had the privilege to know and work alongside him.
Outside of his career, Ben was a man of varied interests. He enjoyed collecting comic books, a passion that reflected his imaginative spirit. He was an avid mushroom hunter, finding joy in the tranquility and exploration that it offered. Among his hobbies, he was also a devoted fantasy football enthusiast.
His leadership and community spirit were evident through his involvement as a past president of the Panther Valley Irish American Association and as a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Summit Hill.
Benjamin was a member of St. John XXIII Parish in Tamaqua.
Services: The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 655 E. Broad St.,
Tamaqua, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 10 a.m. in St. John XXIII Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, followed by interment at Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name may be made to the
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,
stjude.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Tamaqua.
Benjamin "Benny" Walker will be remembered for his kind heart, his dedication to his family and community, and his enduring spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
