Charles R. Eidem
Charles R. Eidem, 76, of Mahoning Valley, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 21, in his residence. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Snyder) Eidem. They were married for 54 years on April 14, 2016.
Prior to retiring, he was a road crewman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for four years, and previously had worked as a laborer for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for 40 years. He also worked for 10 years at the Palmerton Water Authority.
Born in Mahoning Valley, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Edna A. (Reichard) Eidem.
He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley, the Mahoning Valley Fire Company, Mahoning Valley Fire Police and the Lehigh Valley Canal Historical Association.
Eidem helped to establish the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association.
He served as a Mahoning Township supervisor for 30 years, holding terms from 1970-75 and 1982-2007. He also served on the Mahoning Township Sewer Authority.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Susanne Mushinsky of Wilmington, N.C., and Catherine J., wife of Mitchell Pipkin of Peach Bottom, PA; two grandchildren, Tiara Graver and Andrew Kopczynski; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Smith and Skyler Hindermyer; and nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a brother Marvin.
Service: Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, St. John Cemetery, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton, with the Rev. DeForest officiating. Arrangements by Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S.
