Charles Messina Obituary
Charles N. Messina, 94, of Andreas, passed into eternal rest on Monday, Feb, 3, 2025, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. He was the husband of the late Agnes J. (Bradley) Messina, who passed away on Jan. 15, 2014.
Prior to retiring, he was a truck driver for Atlantic/Sunoco and also worked as a masonry contractor.
Born in Abington on Jan. 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Angela A. Messina.
He served our country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-54.
He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton, and the George S. Patton VFW Post, Andreas.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling in different leagues in the general area.
In his younger years, he played semi-professional baseball for the Baltimore Orioles farm team (Columbia Reds) in Carolina, and later played in Sunbury, PSA.
Surviving is a son, Robert C. Messina (Lyn Allestra) of Andover, CT.
He was also predeceased by a brother, Salvatore Messina.
Service: Memorial Mass in his honor 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 260 N. Third St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis officiating, assisted by Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr., followed by military honors under the direction of the Lehighton Area UVO. Interment, private. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church. Contributions in his name may be made to the church, 18235. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com.

I would like to thank the VFW post of Lehighton PA for their very inspiring ceremony for my deceased father, a Korean War vet. You honored his service with dignity & honor. I am proud to be his son & to receive your honors. Thank you again from this citizen. He led a long & fulfilling life, of which is service was always a cherished part.

a Korean War veteran has passed away today. Charles, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow war veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
