David B. Mack Sr.

David B. Mack Sr., 72, of Lehighton, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown Campus.

Born in Bucktown (Slatington), Dave was a son of the late Harvey A. and Pauline E. (Heintzelman) Mack.

He was a 1971 graduate of the former Slatington High School.

Over the years, he built a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family and friendships that lasted his lifetime.

Dave was a proud and skilled worker, having served as a supervisor at the former New Jersey Zinc Company in Palmerton, a foreman for Penn Big Bed Slate Company in Slatedale, and later as the owner and operator of David B. Mack Sr. Trucking.

His strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

A man of many passions, Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and the open road on his motorcycle.

Classic country music was a steady companion in his life, reflecting his straightforward, genuine character. He was a member of the NRA and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Slatedale, and held lifetime membership at Star Hose Company #1 in Emerald.

Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Lydia R. (Skrapits) Mack, with whom he shared nearly 33 years of marriage before her passing in 2005. He later found love again and spent almost 19 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Kathryn (Leiby) Mack, who survives him.

In addition to his wife Kathryn, Dave is survived by his children, daughters Laura (Mack) Pilon of Wiscasset, Maine, and Michelle Mack of Palmerton; son, David B. Mack Jr. of Palmerton; grandchildren, Seth Ward, Dylan Ward, Allison Szoke, Kyle Strohl and Ayla Rose; as well as step-grandchildren, a step great grandchild; and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne (Mack) Wanamaker, and brothers, William "Bill" Mack and Lee G. Mack.

Dave's presence, humor and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Kevin E. Hunsicker Funeral Home Inc., 4214 Main St., Slatedale. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pastor Brian L. Haas will officiate.

Interment will follow at Slatedale Cemetery.
