David S. Salla

David S. Salla, 95, of Lansford, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, in his home. He was the husband of the late Celestine (Sterusky) Salla, who died in 2009.

He retired as heavy equipment operator for Lisbon Construction in Danboro, PA.

Born in Coaldale on March 30, 1928, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rose (Allesch) Salla.

A 1946 graduate of Lansford High School, David enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a Merchant Marine serving in China.

David was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill, and the Lansford American Legion Post.

Surviving are three daughters, Rosemary H., wife of Tim Vincent of Coaldale, Christine, wife of Don Goidos of Stafford, VA, and Karen, wife of John Horvath of Summit Hill; five sons, David A., and his wife, Tamara, of Summit Hill, Joseph F., and his wife, Joanita, of Dallas, PA, Michael D., and his wife, Teresa, of San Marcos, TX, Vincent J. of Montpelier, VA, and Stephen of Dover, PA; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony J., who died in 2019; four brothers, Richard, Joseph, Daniel and Francis; and four sisters, Helen Paul, Margaret Robbins, Hannah Castle and Rose Lagendorf.
