Elizabeth Ann Mele

Elizabeth Ann Mele, 84, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, in Maple Shade Meadows, Nesquehoning. She was the wife of the late Angelo C. "Fats" Mele, who passed away April 27, 2016.

Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Jerome Sr. and Elizabeth (Militello) Citrano.

She was mainly a housewife but also cleaned Dr. Evans office in Nesquehoning for several years.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley Catholic Church, Summit Hill, and was a former lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church now the Shrine of St. Therese Church, Nesquehoning, where she was past president of the Ladies Sodality and involved in all church activities. She enjoyed spending countless hours working the Shower of Roses Festival ever year including this past year.

She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School. She was a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the New Columbus Fire Company. Elizabeth enjoyed running numerous bus trips throughout the country. She was a New York Yankees fan.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna Marusak, and her husband Ray, of Nesquehoning; a son, Angelo J., and his wife Lori (Larkin), of Lehighton; a brother, John, and his wife Louise, of Summit Hill; grandchildren, Lauren Folk, Joseph Folk, Taylor Mele and Vincent Mele; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Paige Stempa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Damian Mele; sisters Frances Goboda, Mary Williams and Jennie Petraroi; and brothers, Michael, Angelo, Samuel, Joseph, Frank, Anthony and Jerome Jr. Citrano.

Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Shrine of St. Therese at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 10-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shrine of St. Therese, c/o the funeral home. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240 has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Online condolences at www.blazoskyfh.com.

My deepest sympathies to the Mele family... when i heard of Aunt Liz and Uncle Fats passing, it broke my heart... even after allll these years... i reminisce about our families travels to Nesquehoning with my own children... those were the best times n how I enjoyed aunt liz n uncle fats... they were just the sweetest n so loving...May they rest in peace
