Germaine Brunda

Mrs. Germaine A. Brunda, 75, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, in the St. Luke's Miner's Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. She was the widow of Stephen Brunda, who passed away in 2011.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Steblar) Krokovich.

She was a 1964 graduate of Marian High School and then attended and graduated from the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Allentown, as a Registered Nurse.

She then worked for many years at the former Coaldale State General Hospital before retiring. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.

Germaine was active in community affairs and belonged to several organizations such as the Panther Valley Public Library, Lansford, the No. 9 Coal and Mine Museum and the Nesquehoning and Lansford Historical societies.

She enjoyed reading, loved to travel, and will be sorely missed.

Surviving are cousins, Edward M. Gurka of Hershey, Bernard Gurka, and his wife, Susan, of Mountaintop, Daria Ann, wife of Dimitri Kartronas of Atlanta, GA, and Larisann Steblar Hill of Fernandina Beach, FL.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, with the Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Arrangements by Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 W. Center St., Nesquehoning. Contributions in her name may be made to the Panther Valley Library, c/o the funeral home, 18240. Online condolences can be offered at www.nalesnikfh.com.
