Harry Mochamer Obituary

Harry Mochamer

Harry Mochamer, 84, died on the morning of October 26, 2025, at Woodlands Senior Living in Farmington.

Harry, son of Dorothy E. Turner Mochamer and Samuel Mochamer, was born on July 27, 1941, in Coaldale. He grew up in Summit Hill, PA, and graduated from Summit Hill High School in 1959 (now known as Panther Valley High School).

Harry went on to graduate from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA, and later earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Maine at Gorham. He began his 28-year teaching career at Fairview School in Auburn before going on to teach science at Auburn Middle School. After retiring, he spent ten years substitute teaching in the RSU 9 District, mostly at Mt. Blue Middle School.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Martin Mochamer, with whom he shared a nearly 60-year marriage. He is also survived by his son Bruce (Denise Lajoie), and was affectionately known as Boomer to his grandchildren, Samantha (Dan) Gillen of Long Island, New York, and Marlie (Nick) Watson of Farmington. Harry was also a proud great-grandfather to Camden, Mackenzie, and Colby Gillen, and Ainslee and Brigham Watson.

He is further survived by his niece Shannon Barry of Houston, TX, and her sons Reid and Lane.

He was predeceased by his sister Sally Barry and her husband David.

Harry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in his family. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he loved cheering on his son Bruce in his younger years, as well as watching his granddaughters Samantha and Marlie on the field. He especially cherished visits from his great-grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Andwell and Woodlands Senior Living for their kindness and compassion.
