Irvin L. Solt, 95, formerly of Kunkletown and Palmerton, died late Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, 2017, in the VA Medical Center, Wilkes- Barre.
He was owner/operator of the former Solt Shoe Repair, Palmerton and Lehigh-ton, for several years.
Born in Palmer-ton, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary M. (Behler) Solt.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 83rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre and attained the rank of Private First Class.
Irvin was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart.
He was also employed by the Forestry Service of Missouri.
Irvin spent much time prospecting and mining and collecting native artifacts throughout the U.S. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosemary J. Whitmyer, and her companion, Lonnie L. Deiter, of Brodheadsville; three grandchildren, Carl Jr., Michael and Duane; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lily, wife of Lloyd Miller of Palmerton, Viola Mallory in Idaho and Pauline Brown of Aquashicola; two brothers, Clark of Palmerton and Milton of Bowmanstown; and nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by two sons, Howard, who died in 2008, and Clark Sr., who died in 2016; five brothers, Oliver, John, Wilson, James and Charles; and a sister Mary.
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview St., Lehighton. Interment with military honors, Towamensing Cemetery, Third Street and Fireline Road, Palmerton.
