James F. Fies
James F. Fies, 77, of Mountain View Mobile Home Park, Walnutport, Lehigh Township, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23, in his home. He was the husband of Joanne C. (Gin-grich) Kasten since July 15, 1961. He was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 32 years before retiring in 1998, retiring as a foreman in Bethlehem. He also worked as an ore handler at the Cornwall Site.Born in Lebanon, he was a son of the late James E. and Mary (Cox) Fies.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Kelly R., wife of Terry Steward of Lehighton, and Allyson K., wife of Tony Manis of Jamestown, TN; seven grandchildren, Gregory Steward, and his wife, Jenn, of Jim Thorpe, Kristy, wife of Mike Spairana of Bowmanstown, Josten, Sabian, Autumn, Payton and Mackenzie; four great-grandchildren, Cody, Kylie, Lydia and Korey; two sisters, Mary C., wife of Dennis Haag of Chambersburg, and Donna M., wife of Alan Boughter in Washington; a brother, George E. of Quentin, PA; nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Mary Buskirk.
