James J. Frey

James J. Frey, 82, of Hazle Township, formerly of Summit Hill, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton. He was the husband of the late Agnes (Pina) Frey, who passed away on June 7, 2006.

Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late James E. Frey and Helen (Daderko) Frey.

He was a graduate of Summit Hill High School.

James enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1966. He then served in the Pennsylvania State Police from 1970 until his retirement in 1992. James was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Surviving are two sons, Brian Frey, and his wife, Anna, of Reading, and James R. Frey, and his wife, Laura, of Bethel Park; a daughter, Renee Frey of West Wyoming; and three granddaughters, Brianna, Gabriella and Anna.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill. Interment will follow at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Summit Hill. Calling 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
